Utilizing Questions, Sessions and Add-ons for Events
The Ticket Questions / Sessions / Add-Ons feature makes it easy for you to collect information from each event attendee. Some ways this feature is used include:
- Collecting needed information from each attendee such as name, email address and meal preferences
- Selling cart items such as t-shirts and other merchandise
- Allowing registrants to add an optional donation to their purchase
Ticket Questions
The simplest and most common use of the “Questions, Sessions & Add-ons” feature is to use it to create additional questions for your registrants to fill out. Each question added to the ticket is prompted for the registrant to fill out for each ticket they are adding to their cart. With that in mind we recommend that you add at least the question “Name” as this ensures that you will capture the name of each attendee the user is registering for.
- From the Ticketing tab of your event click on the ticket
- Click on the Questions / Sessions / Add-ons tab
- Set Type to Full Name
- Set Required to Yes
- Click OK
- Click Save
You can follow similar steps to add other questions such as email or even custom questions such as meal preferences. For example, to add a custom question that allows the user to select from a list of predetermined meals you would:
- From the Ticketing tab of your event click on the ticket
- Click on the Questions / Sessions / Add-ons tab
- Set Type to Custom - Select
- Add a Description such as “Please select your meal preference”
- Click Add Option
- Enter your first option
- Repeat step 5-6 to add all options
- Click OK
- Click Save
For reference, the custom question types you will have
Custom - text input: users will type in their response to the question in a single line field. This is good for questions where you expect short answers.
Custom - simple text area: users will type in their response to the question in a larger text box. This is good for questions where you expect longer answers.
Custom - select: this is a drop down field type. This works well when you have questions that require a single selection to be made such as the example above of meal choices.
*Whenever possible use the systems pre-formed question (i.e. Name, Email, Phone, etc) as this provides the best functionality. For example, using the preformed “Name” question will allow your events Dashboard to display all attendee names and offer an option for an admin to individually check each attendee in.
Sessions
The tickets Sessions feature makes it easy for you to manage breakout sessions at your conference. It can be used to accomplish the following:
- Allow event registrants to register for conference breakout sessions
- Charge for sessions
- Create registrant lists for each session

Add-ons
The tickets Add-Ons feature will make it easy for your members to purchase items (eg. t-shirts), purchase membership or make a donation when registering for an event. You can offer several options and include their selection in the event registration confirmation email.
